Review: Jaded by Michelle Bellon

To what lengths will a man go for the woman he loves?
Reed Dartmouth will learn the answer to those questions time and time again throughout his relationship with Jade Montgomery.
When he first meets her as a young, gentle boy the heartache from losing his mother only a year before is still fresh and painful. Jade is different from anyone else he’s ever met; tough, sassy, and even a bit cruel. But she’s also the same as he is: she knows what it’s like to lose a parent.
Their friendship begins and a bond like no other is formed. Time passes and Reed learns that not only are Jade’s parents dead, they were murdered and she’s made an oath to one day bring them justice. No matter the price.
As they grow older their love evolves but for Jade, old habits die hard and she can’t stop hurting those she loves the most. Even in the midst of searching for her parents’ killers, passion ignites and jealousy burns as Jade tests Reed’s devotion for her. Will she push him too far?

My Review:

Ten year old Reed Dartmouth lives with his Nana after his mother died a year ago when he meets twelve year old Jade, she is after his bullies and when she is beating one of them, demanding back what he took  from her, Reed is hooked and ants to be friends with her. Jade lost her parents too but by murder, she was a witness of that when she was three years old. Jade drags Reed into her dark corner of the world, she is determine to bring the murderers of her parents down, no matter what it costs.

When Jade moves away she makes Reed promise her to wait and not to fall in love ever.  He keeps his promise and when she returns her drops everything, Jade still uses him and push his buttons, will his love still be strong enough to let her? Or will he finally chose for himself and run?
Well written mystery, it isn't a easy job to write  but Michelle Bellon did a good job, she created great characters,  twists and plots, the book will not bore you one minute.

Review: Lieutenant Henry Gallant (The Henry Gallant Saga Book 2) by H. Peter Alesso

In an era of genetic engineering, Lieutenant Henry Gallant is the only Natural (non-genetically enhanced) officer left in the fleet. Many of his superiors, including rival Anton Neumann, have expressed concern he is not up to the challenge. However, his unique mental abilities have proven essential to the defense of the United Planets in its fight against the Titan invaders.
Serving on the first FTL prototype, the Intrepid, on its maiden voyage to Tau Ceti, Gallant finds a lost colony on the planet Elysium. Cyrus Wolfe and his son, manipulate planet politics against the democratic opposition led by James Hepburn and his granddaughter Alaina. Wolfe has allied himself with an ancient Artificial Intelligence which had lain dormant on the planet for millennia, but is now willing to protect the colonists against the Titans.
With Alaina’s help, Gallant discovers the ancient AI has a sinister ulterior motive and he matches his unique and exceptional mind against the complexity of machine intelligence to escape the ultimate trap and prevent the extermination of humanity.
In Lieutenant Henry Gallant, one man pits the naked human mind against the perspicacity of machine intelligence.

My Review:

Lt Henry Gallant's ship is badly damaged and most of his crew killed when he asks permission to land on Elysium, he discovers a lost colony of humans, they thought they left the war behind, Lt Henry feels he has to protect them, which is easier said then done, he has to outsmart an ancient Artificial Intelligence, if he will accomplish that is a spoiler, go read it for yourself.
Well written, nice plots, twists and turns, it pulls you in and you just have to read on.

Review: Panic by Ryan Ringbloom

Robin fell in love with Kent, the boy next door, a long time ago. Once their romance is rekindled, getting married and starting a family seems like the obvious next step. But fate throws a wrench in that plan. Now Robin is tempted to walk away from their relationship rather than settle for anything less than perfect with the man she loves.
Bailey is certainly not the boy next door, yet Shayna fell for his well-played act. But real love only exists in the movies. When a chance encounter binds them together, Shayna finds herself relying on Bailey more than she could ever have expected. And while their resources are slim and their circumstances are far from perfect, she and Bailey slowly discover that they do have something special to give….
When things don’t go exactly as planned, it’s hard not to PANIC.
MATURE CONTENT Strong Language/Sexual situations

My review:

A true story that has hit home with a lot of us, an emotional roller coaster that is so well written, so poured with raw emotions. Robin and Kent are long time sweet hearts that know each other most of their lives, but somehow there is always something that keep each other apart, when Robin doesn't answer or returns Kent's phone calls he blames himself a lot for hat happened last time they ere together.
When she sends a "do not attend" card back for his brother's wedding he goes see her, hat he finds out then flabbergast him, he can't believe she kept that hidden from him.

And then there is Shayna and Bailley. Shayna that is taken care of herself for so long but is only 18 years. She moves to Florida to live with her cousin. the cousin is very in love and not willing to take care of Shayna. When she meets Baily he just lost his sister and hos parents lay an emotional pressure on him, he quits school and finds a job, when Shayna gets pregnant.

I loved this Author's writing very much, there is clearly a piece of her soul in it, it is intense and you just feel it all, pain, jealousy, hate etc, I noticed that it is not just romance but real raw feelings and things that life may bring on your path, Also not just romance and sex scene's for once is refreshing. it is real life stuff. I can't wait to read more from Rayn Ringbloom

Lena a heiress from a rich Russian family wants to get away from her demanding father, she studies in Switzerland when she and her boyfriend are at a stop point, She breaks up with him and moves to Paris where she wants to work as translator. Lena drinks her coffee at a very cute little cafe called "Bistro La Bohème" She soon meets Rob a waiter/student. They become friends quickly a and end up together quickly, they are a cute couple but Rob has a secret, a dark secret that breaks them up when it comes out.

I have been in Paris a lot hen I still lived in Europe, it is one of my favorite cities, the way Alix wrote it I could see myself walking there again. I love the characters in the book, it is fast paced and well written, I only wished she had spend a little more time on the spy part. but that is a little side note, the boo as great.

About the Author:Alix_coffee_VS - copie

I am an avid reader of chick lit, romance and fantasy, caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy/Colin Firth fan. I released my first book at the age of six. It had six postcard-size pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper. The book was titled “Eliza and Robert” and had atrocious mistakes in every single word. Some words were written in mirror image. Unintentionally. I remember being immensely proud of my creation. Turns out there’s a remarkable constancy to my life: decades later, I still love the name Robert and the genre romance. As for my spelling and grammar, they are only marginally better than at age six (thank God for editors!). I live and work in Paris, France. When not writing, I read romance (what else?) and spend time with my family. Review: Just Desserts by Tawdra Kandle

When her friend Julia needed help forming a revenge plan against her ex-boyfriend, Ava was happy to lend a hand. She never expected that in the course of making Liam pay, she’d be the one to fall hard. . .for the one person who was absolutely off-limits. Crushing on the guy who humiliated her best friend is definitely against the girlfriend rules.
Besides, Ava has goals. Her life is all about graduating with honors and landing the perfect job. And Liam Bailey–sweet-talking, complicated son of a well-known local politician–isn’t part of those plans.
But Liam doesn’t give up easily. And he doesn’t intend to let their friends’ opinions, his parents’ disapproval or Ava’s past get in the way of what he wants–Ava’s heart.

My Review:

Just Desserts is the second book of the series, even though I do recommend to read both books, it isn't needed, you can red as stand alone.
Ava is struggles with her feelings, after her best friend is dumped in a mean way she is focus at first to get revenge, but soon she realize that she cares for Liam a lot. That is not possible, he is her best friend and roommate's  ex. Besides she did not want to be involved, she ants to study and graduate with honors. Can she get passed her feelings or will she give in to Liam who fights for her.

Again a very good boo from Tawdra Kandle's hand, she rite solid books, has strong characters, people you can relate too, I am a HUGE fan.

Guestpost Professor's Weird Criminal Law Stories by Leonard Birdsong

More silly and unlawful conduct by women than anyone could ever imagine!

There’s a story for everyone in this book. You can read about the 6-foot, 400-pound woman arrested for fraud with $26,000 found stuffed in her very ample bra; stories of women who get naked and do disorderly things like steal cars, smash windshields and freak out in airports; the story of the dying woman who asked her husband to have a replica of her vagina carved on her tombstones which he could look at instead of chasing women after her death; stories of women teachers who have sexual affairs with high school boys; a woman who called New Haven police from a nightclub to give her a ride home; a story about a Texas women who asks her son to set a snake afire in her backyard and burns down her house; a story of a Japanese madam who specializes in providing 330-pound prostitutes to men who like women with “explosive boobs and butts”; a story about an Arizona lady who was the spokesperson for the State Department of Public Safety who was forced to resign when she learned that she was an undocumented alien living illegally in the U.S.; a “drunken dummy” or two; and a wide variety of just plain, stupid criminal stories about women in trouble that make this anthology worth reading. It is Professor Birdsong’s funniest yet!

GUEST POST

I am Professor Leonard Birdsong. I live in Orlando, Florida where I teach Criminal Law, White Collar Crime, Evidence, and Immigration Law at the Barry Law School. I received my Juris Doctor degree from the Harvard Law School and my Bachelor’s degree from Howard University. I have written many scholarly legal pieces since joining the legal academy in 1998.
I have recently written and published eight eBooks devoted to weird and funny criminal law stories. These books are not scholarly pieces! My six volumes of Weird Criminal Law Stories and my other two books, 157 Dumbest Criminals and my “365” Weird Stories for every Day of the Year, are written just for fun and enjoyment.
I am very proud of his legal career which included his work as an attorney with the law firm of Baker & Hostetler. Later he served as a diplomat with the State Department with various postings in Nigeria, Germany, and the Bahamas. I also worked as a federal prosecutor, first as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, and later as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Virgin Islands.  After leaving government service, I was in private practice in Washington, D.C., where I specialized in trial work ranging from criminal defense work to political asylum matters.
Although I have been involved in serious criminal law work over the years as a prosecutor, a defense attorney, and a law professor, I know that it is good to stayed grounded. This means often taking time to look at the many funny and weird criminal law stories that crop up around the United States and the world. Sometimes it is good laugh at some of the silly foibles of dumb criminals and their crimes. That is why several years ago I began to collect and edit from the wire services and news the type of weird and funny criminal law stories that appear in my anthologies. I hope my readers will get a few good laughs or at least, some chuckles from my collections of weird criminal law stories.

Review: Vanished from Dust by Shea Norwood

A CHILL RUNS THROUGH HIS SKIN AS THE PHANTOM APPEARS.
HE SEES THEM EVERYWHERE . . .
Eric Stark is not insane. Or at least he doesn’t think so. He wishes everyone in Dust, Texas, felt the same way. But that’s not going to happen since the whole town thinks he’s crazy. Why didn’t he keep his mouth shut?
No one understands. Eric is alone as he battles his sanity in a town of tormenters. Suddenly a new friendship emerges after the new kid, Kyle Barrett, moves to town.
Eric reluctantly reveals his secret. Is it a curse or a gift? He isn’t certain, but with Kyle by his side he finds the courage to seek the truth.
They soon realize that something sinister is descending on the residents of Dust.
Is it caused by Eric’s phantoms or is it something else? Is it connected to the mysterious death of hundreds of townspeople over sixty years ago? One thing is certain—only Eric and Kyle can save them.
They set out on a heart-pounding adventure and find themselves transported to a disturbed and deserted version of their small southern town. They quickly discover that this new world has mysteries of its own to uncover. What they find could prove more than they bargained for, and it only leads to more questions. Eric and Kyle must face a horrifying fact—they may never get out alive.
“We’re gonna die here,” Kyle muttered.
“I don’t believe that,” Eric said. “And neither do you.”
Will they survive their encounter with these dark and mysterious beings?
Will they find a way back home?
Or will they be lost forever?
The Vanished from Dust series is perfect for anyone who craves a hair-raising thriller packed with mystery and suspense. This paranormal story for young adults can be compared to Stand by Me, mixed with Odd Thomas, and a twist of The Dark Tower.

                                                              My Review:

A small town in Texas, home of Eric Stark a fourteen year old boy that is bullied after he told people he sees phantoms, not long after Kyle Barret moves into the town and he defends Eric, that is the start of a heart warming friendship.  Eric and Kyle find out that there is something going on in the town, they decide to find out what it is and try to solve it.

It all starts when Eric sees a dark shadow in the abandonment theater in town, one night the boys decide to investigate, soon dark beings are around them, question is ill they survive and be able to safe the dark beings?......

Great Paranormal book, good story and a warm friendship, lovable characters, and much more, a Must read! suitable for YA

StoryBundle Steampunk Bundle for Sale #Contest

All Covers Large

"What is steampunk?"

The easy answer is that steampunk stories are set in the 19th century Victorian era when steam-driven technology was primary, corsets were tight, and tea was a formal affair. But that's like saying science fiction is about spaceships… when the genre is much broader, deeper, and more amazing than that. (And yes, steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction.) With a thriving real-life steampunk culture that is very do-it-yourself in inventing characters, costumes, and gadgets, the real answer is that steampunk can be virtually anything you want it to be. It's this tremendous devotion to creativity that actually drew me in to writing steampunk in the first place (along with the gorgeous costumes!). In this steampunk bundle, we have an east-Indian fantasy romance, a Asian-flavored pirate love story, a Shakespearean retelling, two stories set in a common world with a floating island, a young adult adventure about a lightning invention, and a story that uses Arcane Science in the modern world. These stories are perfect examples of the truly rich diversity of steampunk stories… while each also portrays a world where steam technology shifts the ground under their character's feet. We think of the Victorian era as being somewhat repressed, but it really was a time of tremendous change: class divisions, and the aristocracy it supported, were being challenged by the everyday men and women who were bringing about amazing technological advances. Science was on the rise! And the beautiful costuming and formal traditions of the past were coming into conflict with those first hints of the modern world. Steampunk stories in general resonate with readers not just because of their fun, escapist fantasy—a flight into the past when things were simpler, adventures were fought with sword and gun, and social strictures brought some order to the world—but because the upheaval wrought by technological change still resonates with our real lives today. What is steampunk? It's a story like any other story: a chance to escape the world for a few hours, to live in the wilderness of an author's imagination, to adventure, to fall in love, to die for one's friends. It's classic storytelling in a visually rich, emotionally gripping era that still resonates with us today. Plus you get to rollick about in corsets and top hats, inventing gadgets and saving the world from the villains who turn that fantastic steam technology to their own dastardly purposes. Strap on your goggles and prepare for the ride! – Susan Kaye Quinn The initial titles in the bundle (minimum $3 to purchase) are:
  • Black Mercury by Charlotte E. English
