Review Spartanica by Powers Molinar

Ty and Marcus Mitchell are average middle school brothers growing up north of Chicago until one night when they’re hurtled through an inter-dimensional gateway to a parallel world defined by its multiple moons and planet-wide apocalypse. As they struggle to figure out where they are and how to get home, the boys encounter refugees of “the last day” from the distant city of Atlantis and a mysterious girl called Bellana, the sole survivor and resident of the devastated city of Spartanica. Ty and Marcus soon learn they only have seven days to get home. But before they can leave, they must battle through long-extinct predators, track down the elusive Professor Otherblood, and rescue a new friend from certain death. Is all of this insanity just Ty’s overactive imagination or are the brothers truly on the brink of being stranded on the brutal wasteland known as Spartanica?

My Review:

Two brothers who live with their aunt North of Chicago, when one night one of them hears a sound and goes look for the source, when he finds it in a dark basement his brother scares him. when they go into their aunts room (where she studies etc artifacts for the museum) They see a sudden bright light and wake up somewhere else.  Appears they ended up on another planet where they never heard from Earth. They meet a girl in the city and decide to help her. Another group of kids arrive, they want to free other kids too. When go for that is seems that the enemy is always a step ahead.

GREAT story, with a few surprises and twists, good read also for YA. Buy links below.

Have Mercy by Siobhan Beabhar Book Blast

have mercyBook Blast

Content Warning: This naughty yet hilarious story explores the complex subjects of identity, stigma, and sex work. The issues of passing and colorism within the African American community are lightly explored. Due to the coarse language and explicit sex scenes, this story is intended for readers over the age of 18. Mercy Higgins. Cantankerous Widow. Prized Teacher. Beloved Escort. In an industry where erotic skills matter, she sucks. But, not in a good way. Mercy is a cantankerous fifty-eight year old African American widow who still mourns the deaths of her husband and stillborn daughter. When catastrophic medical bills threaten her retirement savings, Mercy decides that morality is left to those who can afford it, and she becomes a prostitute hoping to earn money to settle her debts. To garner a client list, Mercy hosts evening soirees, and her house unjustly earns the label of Washington D.C.’s newest brothel. Soon drawn into Mercy’s mad scheme, her middle-aged tenants revel in the spotlight their notoriety has created. As they navigate the murky waters of social stigma and wield the mercurial moods of their powerful clients, the ladies will test their moral limits and sexual boundaries. Particularly for Mercy, as she handles a young, new—and White—client, Major Jackson Ransom, who is hell-bent on having the older woman, even if it means barreling through her emotional barriers to get to her heart.

First love is the sweetest.... Jax and Jacey are everyone's favorite couple, even though they've barely kissed. Though everyone in their conservative, small beach town sees them as a couple, they're not, exactly. Because while they both want more, they've agreed to wait. Jacey works hard, respects her elders and follows every spoken and silent rule about fitting in and doing the ‘right’ thing. She doesn't dare give the gossips more fodder from her family, so she's kept Jax firmly in the friendzone. It takes a hurricane for her to realize timing is everything, but months later she’s still too afraid to put her heart on the line and tell him how she feels. Then plans change – hers for summer and his for college, and Jacey needs to make the most of the time she and Jax have left, or stay stuck in the land of missed beginnings forever

Conflicting Hearts Book Blast

ConflictingHeartsbannerconflicting hearts newRachel Hayward hoped to have a quiet thirtieth birthday alone. Instead, fate had different plans. Caught in traffic and late for work, Rachel takes her eyes off the road to gawk at an accident and rear-ends the car in front of her. Sick over having ruined her day, she lowers her head and waits for the driver to begin a tirade over her stupidity. Instead, a kind man taps on her window showing genuine concern. The brief colliding encounter suddenly starts a relationship between two strangers that takes off under odd circumstances. When intimacy begins, their relationship turns into a conflicting set of needs. Ian is tenderhearted and respectful, but Rachel desires aggressiveness from a man. The clash of desires threatens to tear them apart. As a result, she is faced with the decision to leave the man she loves or finally confront the painful secret of her childhood. Author Notes: Conflicting Hearts touches on a taboo subject, but one that is very real to many adult women in today's society. Statistically speaking, the shocking reality is that one out of every four girls will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. Though this is a fictional work, that actually documents a factual event in another person's life, it has the power to open the eyes of readers to better understand those who have suffered abuse as a child. Written with a sprinkle of humor, believable characters, brutal reality, and sizzling romance, it is a book that some claim should be read by every woman. In the end, healing and healthy relationships are possible for those victims who seek help.

Guestpost and review: War of the Heavens, Book one, Leviathan by Charbel Tadros

Nigel survives a car crash, while his whole family perishes in the accident. With the help of his later-to-become girlfriend Vicky, he overcomes the tragedy and makes his way to college. As they are about to graduate, Vicky convinces him to embark on a strange project involving crystals and magick, with a “k” (meaning real magic). Little did they know that this project would open for them the gates of other dimensions including the world of the gods, the world of the muses and the demons, the world of the dead and many more. But why were they called there?
Throughout the ages, many authors were able to share, preserve and spread forbidden knowledge and information through novels. Sometimes, the knowledge was too unacceptable or even too early to be understood by the general masses that the author couldn’t write about it explicitly. In these cases, many authors smuggled this knowledge into the future through their writings. However, in order to make sure that this knowledge only reaches the audience it is destined to reach, the authors would make it accessible only to those who would understand it. As for those whom the knowledge isn’t designed for, they would treat the novel as a work of fiction to savor and enjoy.
Magick, when written with a “k” in the end, means real magic and not mirror tricks and illusions. In this case, Magick is the conscious manipulation of natural and psychic energies for the accomplishment of certain goals, especially those dealing with luck. Obviously, Magick doesn’t always work because many factors need to be addressed for a certain objective to be realized. Also, in many occasions when Magick fails, the reason can be the lack of sufficient energy to accomplish such a task.
In Leviathan, the first part of my War of the Heavens trilogy, the subject of Magick is addressed in depth. Also, wise readers will definitely be able to decipher many of the secret messages that I have woven into this novel. As for the others, they can brace themselves for the adventure of their lives.

Two Scientists  Nigel and his friend Vicky, she convince him to work with crystals,  looking at the differences and vibrations of them, when suddenly... BAM! ... each is in a different time. each of them fight a battle between good and evil.  You will find yourself in several Myth's. magick and much more. although the characters and writing is good, it is a bit much sometimes.   Nevertheless a good book, I look forwards to read more from Mr Tadros.

Toni G. Sinns Toni Sinns was born and raised in Western North Carolina before moving to Central Florida in 2011 with the love of her life husband and their 2 dogs. She is currently working on multiple novels in multiple genres and has many plans for much more. When she isn't busy having conversations with the characters in her head she is helping others with Turning The Pages or she is lost in one of her many joys and hobbies which could include: video games, movies, crochet, cooking, crafts, reading, or something else she finds to toy with.

IBF Meet the Author 2014 Feb 14 - 21

Tell us a little bit about your book(s) and yourself. Ugh I hate talking about myself. Um I grew up in Western North Carolina until Aug of 2011 when I moved down to Florida with my husband. We have 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs. I have been a fan of writing and story telling since I can remember. I love to help people and get people noticed. I’m also pretty goofy and always looking for my own adventure to go on. I have been called spontaneous on numerous occasions. My books are my joy. I love writing them. I love the stories in them and the characters. My Blazing Charm series is about a group of high school kids who live in this crazy life that not many people are aware of. With the mafia involved, illegal street racing, cheating death a few times, and more.

When was your first book published?
My poetry book was published Feb 2, 2012 My First novel (I’ve got you covered book 1 of the blazing charm series) was published April 12, 2012. __ Why did you decide to become an Indie Author? I finally sat down after a few failed months at trying to get a desk job and wrote out a story I had worked on for almost 8 years. At the same time I compiled all my poems together and put that in a book too.

Are you currently working on anything? I have over 25 WIP’s on my computer and constantly writing down plot ideas for more. However for 2014 I do plan to release 1 novelette (Fields of Summer, releasing Feb 5th (Baby Dragon’s Sound), and 1 Paranormal Novel (The Black Rose), The 4th the blazing charm series (Out of Time), and a Women’s Lit Novel (Dixie Raised).

Who and what inspired you to write? I have no idea. I’ve been writing since I can remember. I always made up stories in my head. Writing and story telling has always been my favorite thing to do. -

Each author has his or her own inspiring journey. How did you begin writing? I don’t have an inspiring Journey. Writing has just been something I’ve always done.

What is on your writing playlist for your book(s)? I don’t have playlist for my books.

Who is your favorite character in your books? Anistasia from The Blazing Charm series is my favorite. She is stubborn, strong, athletic, crazy, and stands her ground. But at the same time she has moments of weakness where she leans on others or fear of others safety. She is pretty awesome.

What is your favorite book of all time? Don’t have one.

Tell us in one sentence why we should read your books? Because the adventure it takes you on is a thrill ride full of unexpected twist, turns, people and you’ll love to pull for the group of characters. _______________________________________________________________________
