Guest Post: The Silent Sounds of Chaos by Kristina Circelli

A silent call for help began the friendship between two children. A bond unlike any other kept them together.
Finn was just a kid when he first heard Snow’s voice inside his head, two children in need of a friend and finding one in mysterious strangers. Never meeting in person, the pair grows up as opposites – Finn the boy who loves to get in trouble and works for the toughest drug lord in town, Snow the good, sheltered girl who wants to be a doctor.
The bond built upon a strange ability to hear each other’s thoughts is threatened when Snow is abducted, her screams for help consuming Finn’s mind until they disappear completely, submerging him in a terrifying silence he’s never known before. Now it’s up to Finn to save her, led only by Snow’s sporadic thoughts as she floats in and out of consciousness.
But the search for Snow leads him to a truth he isn’t prepared to face, a truth that has the power to unravel his entire world. The people he thought he knew, the life he thought he’d made, the best friend he thought he could protect – all point toward a brutal reality should he fail.
And as Finn struggles to find Snow before she slips away, he must fight to keep that reality out, lest he let the chaos in.

The Silent Sounds of Chaos – Guest Post 3

Meet Finn – and the Men Who Inspired Him

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE movies. We’re talking borderline obsession, to the point my husband put me on a temporary “movie buying” ban. When I write, I tend to put scenes together as I would visualize them in a movie, even acting out the scenes as different characters to get a feel for their facial expressions, body positions, voice inflections, and so on. I like to say it’s practice for the day I get to turn my books into films.

So, that all being said, let’s talk Finn of The Silent Sounds of Chaos. Finn is a complex character, as charming as he is boyish. When it comes to movie inspirations, three actors come to mind to best represent who, exactly, Finn truly is.

When I think of his appearance, I immediately go to Taylor Kitsch. More so, Taylor from the image provided here. Devilishly handsome, a little smirky, gives you the grin that tells you he’s up to no good and having fun doing it. He’s not concerned with looking model perfect or clean cut – that’s not his style.

His rough-and- tough lifestyle gives him a “hard around the edges” appearance that all the ladies love, and he knows it, and yet, he’s only got eyes for one girl.

But Finn is more than looks – and his personality is reminiscent of two brothers you may remember from a little movie called The Boondock Saints. Connor and Murphy are equal sides of the Finn coin.

Cheeky, mischievous, looks out for the little guy, will do anything for the people he loves and won’t feel badly about taking out those who deserve it. There is a wildness to Finn, a need to protect, mixed in with a wounded innocence. I like to think he’d fit perfectly as a third Saint.

So, there you have it – my vision for who Finn is, and who could represent him. I’d love to hear your thoughts as well as to who Finn reminds you of, or who could play him in a movie.

(PS. If you haven’t seen The Boondock Saints or its sequel, go watch them now! You won’t be disappointed.)
