Excerpt and Review Searching for Normal

At the hospital front entrance we waited for our cab and discussed anything but what was said in their private discussion. While the suspense was killing me, I wanted to hold off on asking her until we were in the comfort of familiar, safe surroundings.
“What did the doctor tell you? I finally blurted out, unable to wait. “It’s bad news, isn’t it?”
Mom met my gaze.
“Maybe we should discuss this at home.”
I knew she was probably right, but we were the only two people around.
“Mom, it’s my body. Can you please tell me now?”
She grabbed my hand and squeezed it,
“Honey, the doctors want to put you in the hospital to wean you off the steroids.”
“For how long?”
“Two to three months. But you’ll have your entire life ahead of you when you are discharged.”
“My entire life? But all my plans ...” I struggled to absorb what she'd said.
Mom gazed outside the window as if searching for our cab or perhaps a distraction, something that would make the news more palatable.
She looked back at me.
“If something isn’t done now,” she said plainly, “they think you won't live to be twenty.”
She gathered me in a hug as the words filtered through the sanitized air, and sunk into my brain.
Sure, the doctors had used the word ‘terminal’ before – but not recently. I still had so many things left to accomplish. I wanted to sing, graduate, learn to drive, go to Disneyland, fall in love, and deepen my relationships with friends and family.
Time – I needed more time.

She and her best friend Benson are the gymnastic couple, but the are way more behind scenes. In that year there are better medication to cure  sexual disease, which results in wild sex scenes in the Olympic camps, It is a scary thought it could be real. All Leah and Benson want is win Olympic Gold/  It is very well written, it leaves a lot to your own imagination too. Review: The Grinding by Matt Dinniman

Book Description

 September 15, 2013
Six months ago, the world watched in horror as we lost an American city.

The Grinder. That's what the survivors of Tucson called the monster. Just one touch, and they became a part of it. It used their bodies as limbs and as weapons. In just a matter of hours, it became huge, a towering monstrosity made entirely out of tens of thousands of people and animals.

This isn’t behind-the-scenes bullshit from the point of view of the military. This isn’t yet another conspiracy theory about what really happened to Air Force One that night, or about the decision to nuke Tucson.

This is a rare, eyewitness account from someone who was there, in the midst of the destruction. But most importantly, this is the terrifying truth.

Review:

Oh My Goodness what a great book, the horror fan in me is pleased!!
This Necro story is a page turner and pins you to your chair till the end.
The monster will sneak up on you and just take you!
It is high level horror, not nasty but down to earth scary!!! Adam wants just one thing, not being a hero, but just to find his wife and be with her. Loved the twins!  Monster, horror, Necro fans this is a MUST read.
I can NOT wait to read more from Matt. Well done!

Review for Release day Diva: The Storm that Fated us by JP Summers

Book Description

 September 21, 2013
New Adult Romance *Sexual and Mature situations*

As Tia Deltoro’s 23rd birthday approaches, she looks forward to meeting up with her old high school friends and hitting the ski slopes. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway, staying in a beautiful cottage overlooking the mountains, turns out to be a hellish nightmare when Tia unmistakably recognizes the person delivering their firewood.

It has been five years since Tia graduated from New Holston High, yet she remains emotionally shackled to her past, or more specifically ex-best friend Carson Rodriguez, the man holding the bundle of firewood. When he accuses Tia for setting up their chance meeting she fires back running him off. Unfortunately for these two former friends, Mother Nature decides to show them an intervention they’ll never forget! The drastic shift in weather conditions causes Carson to return and wait out the horrific weather conditions in the confinements of the cottage with Tia.

While the storm rages outside, the two distance themselves to opposite sides of the living room for their own protection. Tia keeps herself distracted by looking at the old high school yearbooks that were packed in preparation for planning the upcoming reunion. Through a series of flashbacks, the memories come flooding back. She can't help but wonder how things could have gone differently if her ex-boyfriend Evan didn’t always lure her back into his corrupting grasp or Carson’s on-again-off-again girlfriend Erin hadn't been so conniving.

In the end all of the jealousy, secrets, and lies ultimately severed the ties that held their four year friendship together.

With the strong winds from this blizzard of mass destruction leveling their only means of shelter one window and roof tile at a time, only one question remains...will Tia and Carson be able to put aside their anger towards each other long enough to survive another storm?

REVIEW:

Tia and her friends are going for a long weekend skiing it is also her birthday and they all look forwards to it. When two of her friends go to town for errands, they tell het someone will be up soon to bring more fire wood. there is a storm coming and in more ways then just outside.
To Tia's horror the guy who brings the wood is no one else then her ex best friend/boyfriend Carson. He is still so mad at her.

He brings in the wood and leaves, to be back a little later because the roads are closed. It seems it will be only them now because the others can't reach the cabin. It is not all fun Carson thinks she set it up and is furious  The don't talk and stay apart. Till........ the storm gets worse and trees fall inside. all the can do is lay in front of the fire with lots of blankets. Will Carson let is anger go and listen to her, to fix minimal their close friendship they had. Go get the book and read it for yourself, I promise you won't regret it.

Fall of Sky CityFall of Sky City Book 1 : Amazon – Kindle| Amazon – Paperback| Goodreads

Praise for Fall of Sky City
Wow! What did I just read?? The story was deliciously complex, full of fear, wonder, magic, gadgets, gizmos, one heck of a psycho Queen and wonderful friends. Every character brought something to the story, each with a unique personality that came to life through the book, each with their own fears to overcome. Victoria Limbert I love the world Blooding has created. She managed to create it in a way that it combines specs of all my favorite movies, books, etc. It’s a mixture of young adult fantasy, steam punk, dystopia, sci-fi, paranormal and even some tiny bit of romance. Fall of Sky City is a diverse book that is intense, a little bit violent, and a whole lot of awesome! I look forward to reading the next book of the series! Unputdownable Books SM Blooding is a new author to me, but this is definitely not the last book I’ll read by her. Synn El’Asim is a powerful character–the reader sees him grow from a young man who has not yet come into his power to a strong man who is courageous enough to fight for what he believes in–his family and his people. The world building Ms. Blooding does is nothing short of remarkable. A world composed of flying ships, ice worlds, danger, and intrigue. My World of Dreams This book is action-packed and intense. You feel like you’re part of the drama. This story is intense. The action is perfectly paced. I had trouble putting the book down. I really felt for Synn from the very beginning. He goes through so much. As soon as he gets his mark, he is plunged into one situation after another. Queen Nix, who is horrifying by the way, pushes Synn to new levels, in more and more diabolical ways. With the help of friends and family, Synn becomes a strong leader. Waiting on Sunday to Drown I’m amazed of the world Blooding has created and built. It has Sky, Land, and Water Cities. These cities each has its own technologies, language, and a whole different way of life. These worlds remind me a lot of Avatar the Last Airbender and Star Wars, which I both loved wholeheartedly. Excerpt and Review: haunted U by Jessica Gibson!

Book Description

 October 10, 2013
Ezzie Lovegreen lives in a world where witches and ghosts are real. That doesn’t mean she’s not surprised when she’s suddenly being haunted by one at school.

With the help of her best friend Stella, her boyfriend Beau, and her grandmother Winifred, Ezzie must find out what happened to the ghost and set her free.

Secrets will be revealed that could change Ezzie’s life forever. Will Ezzie be strong enough to face the challenges set in her path?

Excerpt:
Winifred carried a large bowl and a small glass and set them on the table. Each was filled with the potion she had just brewed. “Okay, are we ready?” Stella nodded nervously. “Yeah, I’m ready.” “You totally sure?” “I’m very sure. I’m ready for this,” Stella responded with certainty. “Please sit down at the table then, everyone. Stella, you need to drink the potion in the glass.” Stella picked up the small glass and smelled its contents. She wrinkled her nose. “Well, down the hatch.” She knocked it back like a shot of whiskey and coughed. “Oh, that is revolting.” She made a face. Winifred smiled and snapped her fingers, turning off all the lights in the room. The candles and the flame bathed the room in flickering light. “Ezzie, Beau, Grady, please join hands with Stella and chant the spell.” They all linked hands, and the three began to chant the spell over and over. For a moment, nothing happened, and then a grayish mist began to erupt from the bowl of potion. It curled and rippled its way across the table to where Stella sat. As the chanting continued, the mist wrapped itself around Stella, covering her like a cloak, obscuring her from view. “Good, keep going, just a little longer.” Winifred instructed as she moved around the table, checking the progress of the spell. Stella was now a mass of swirling mist, no part of her left uncovered. “Stop!” Winifred ordered as she slid the bowl in front of Stella. In one motion, she flicked her wrist and brought the flame down into the bowl of liquid, extinguishing it with a loud hissing sound. She blew the smoke and mist, and it sucked back into the bowl, leaving Stella once again uncovered. “Did it work?” Stella asked excitedly. “I don’t know. Let’s test it out.” Winifred smiled. “Charlie, would you come in here?” Charlie popped into view and Stella gasped. “Oh, my gosh, I can see her! I can see Charlie!” she squealed. “Nice to finally be able to talk to you after all this time.” Charlie laughed. “Wow, this is so crazy.” Stella giggled. “I guess it worked then.” Grady put an arm around Stella’s shoulders. “Welcome to club crazy. We see dead people.” Stella punched him in the arm playfully. “Happy to join.” They spent the rest of the night calling all of the ghosts they knew so Stella could get a feel for what it was going to be like from now on. Ezzie and Stella spent the night, and Beau and Grady went home. “Thank you,” Stella whispered just as they were falling asleep. “For what?” “For this, for not telling me no. For letting me be a part of your world.” “You were always a part of it. Now you just get to see all the weird stuff.” Ezzie squeezed Stella’s hand, and they fell asleep.

                                                                   My Review:

This is a rare, eyewitness account from someone who was there, in the midst of the destruction. But most importantly, this is the terrifying truth.

Extra Life, Inc Book Tour

by Kfir Luzzatto

David Wolfson, a Jerusalem scientist, claims to have found the cure for cancer. He and his wife, Tamara, seek the help of Richard Lunz, a Tel Aviv attorney, to fight the powerful bureaucrats who want to appropriate David's invention. Richard can’t resist the temptation to participate in what looks like the discovery of the century, and it takes a first death to make him doubt that something in the project is not what it seems. And then other people die. Following clues that take him to Eastern Europe and to America, Richard finds more answers than he wished for. But he just can't stop looking.

Meet the Author:

Kfir was born and raised in Italy, and moved to Israel as a teenager. He acquired the love for the English language from his father, a former U.S. soldier and WWII veteran, a voracious reader and a prolific writer. With a PhD in chemical engineering and a long family history that he needs to live up to, Kfir work as a patent attorney and heads the patent law firm that was established by his great-grandfather in Milan, Italy, in 1869. Kfir lives in Omer, Israel, with his full-time partner, Esther, their four children, Michal, Lilach, Tamar and Yonatan, and the dog Elvis. Writing has always been Kfir's passion and for almost four years he wrote a weekly "Patents" column in Globes (Israel’s financial newspaper), which also yielded his only (if he can help it) non-fiction book, THE WORLD OF PATENTS, (a not-so-boring tale of what patents are about, in Hebrew), which was published in 2002 by Globes Press. Kfir loves writing short stories but has too many novels waiting to be written (and possibly not enough years ahead of him to write them all), so now he mostly writes full-length fiction. His other passion is working with other authors on stories he loves and that's how he wound up serving on the editorial board of The Harrow Press as Anthology Editor. You can read about Kfir's books here. He loves them all, but never had greater fun than when working on “HAVE BOOK WILL TRAVEL”, a YA fantasy that he wrote together with his son, Yonatan.
