Review: Three Saints Christmas by Beverly Lein

Book Description

July 24, 2012
In this adventurous and compelling fictional story it takes St. Joseph, Gabriel, and Santa to get a family all together for Christmas 1866. From a stalking cougar, to a wolf encounter, to a little girl falling into a hole in the ice, and other crises, this story keeps the reader turning its pages.

Deep in Peace River Country in northern Canada, five children have been allowed to stay home on their own for what is supposed to be a three-day period while the adults leave for a town 45 miles away in bitterly cold weather. Brittany, a capable and mature 11-year-old, has been left in charge and is delighted by the prospect of taking care of her sibling and her three cousins.

However, a serious life-threatening accident with the horse and wagon occurs with dire consequences. Fortunately, the children are being watched over from above by St Joseph, Gabriel the Angel, and Santa Claus. The characters in the story are based on real-life children and adults, and make perfect sense to anyone who believes in saints, angels, miracles " and Santa Claus.

The Three Saints of Christmas is a story for children (from 5 to 95). The Three Saints will appeal to anyone who has an active imagination and the desire to explore the meaning of Christmas though fantasy and a non-traditional approach. This delightful story will appeal to children as well as adults young and old, around the world.

Perfect book  for this time a year. it shows us the true meaning of Christmas, before we bought insane expensive presents, before all overdone food. This will open your eyes and see a very brave eleven years old Brittany who takes care of her sibling and three cousins, what was suppose to be a few days, became longer because of a terrible accident/ She fights hard to keep it going, it is in early 1800 no luxury, house,. animals and wood fires. Thank God for them three Saints notice them and they do all they can t keep the kids safe and bring the adults back.

It will even leave a tear in your eyes, I love the characters they are well written. It is a great book to read with, or read by younger kids. It will put you back down to earth.

Excerpt Enlightened by Melissa Lummis

He pressed warm lips to her trembling ones. Her head swam with panic as he slid his arms around her, deepening the kiss. His hands wandered over her back, skating under her shirt hem and over her warm, bare skin. When his fingers grazed her flesh, it dawned on her that she was kissing him back. Her arms were wrapped around his waist, and their stomachs, and lower things, melded together. Horrified, she shoved Jeremy’s hips away, breaking the kiss and hissed through gritted teeth, “Stop.”
Jeremy’s eyes were glazed and half hidden by his shaggy hair. His breath was shallow as one arm fell away from her and the other gripped the storage rack behind her. She turned away from his broad chest into his hard, muscular arm.
“Don’t be mad, okay?” he whispered.
Lust and revulsion tangled in her belly as she mumbled, “Jeremy...please.” She caught her breath. “David. . .”
His arm dropped out of the way, and his fevered eyes cooled into a careful concern. “Hey, I get it. No explanation necessary.” He wrapped a hand around hers, giving it a mollifying squeeze. When she didn’t pull back right away, he leaned his forehead against hers. For a second they both closed their eyes, Loti yielding to his comforting gesture. When he crept closer, she splayed her free hand against his chest and shoved.
“That’s enough, Don Juan.”
He stumbled back and she swallowed down the confusing mix of emotions. Holding him at bay, she extracted her other hand from his as she scuttled out the door. His chin dropped, eyes still closed, as he drooped against the wall. Out in the open space of the studio, she took a deep breath and turned to face him. He stood in the doorway, hands in his pockets, his hair hiding his eyes as he studied his flip flops. His long surfer shorts showed off muscular calves. How old is he, anyway? 25?She was only 30, but she felt so much older.
“I know I’m a fool, Jeremy.” Her voice shook despite her careful control.
He looked up through the curtain of bangs. His light-hearted smile absolved her. “I’ve had a thing for you for a while.” He shrugged it off and reached down for his yoga mat.
She forced herself to look in his eyes as he straightened. “I’m not ready.”
He cleared his throat. “So when will you be?” And he flung the mat over his shoulder.
Her stomach did a flip and she licked the corner of her mouth. “I don’t know. It’s still fresh.” Her gaze wavered.
Jeremy flicked the hair out of his eyes. “I’m not going to push it. Don’t worry.” He smiled wider, showing teeth. “But you’ve got to know how damn hot you are. Maybe when you get back from this trip.”
Loti relaxed the hands she’d balled up. A warm blush bloomed across her cheeks, and she rolled her eyes. “Yeah, maybe.”

 October 27, 2012

An ominous nightmare the night before she leaves sets her on a dangerous path of self-discovery that challenges everything she believes – and threatens her life.

While dodging psychic attacks from an unknown assailant, she struggles with her growing attraction to a broody, handsome and completely frustrating vampire. Loti races to understand who and what she is before her anonymous enemy catches up with her.

Loti thought she couldn’t survive her husband’s death, but among healers, witches, and vampires, she discovers not only a future, but a family.

My Review:

What a good debut book, this writer takes paranormal into a whole other direction, when you like paranormal, vampires, hippies, yoga, witches name it all combined into a whole new world. Well in my eyes, a book hard to let go off.

It is about Loti whose husband died and she thinks her whole life ends too. Read yourself how she picks up her life  and even falls in love again.  In her race to find out who she is up against you will meet many interesting characters, I loved to read how Loti and Wolf felt in love. I'll keep a close eye other books, I'm a fan for sure!
Well done Melisa Lummis!!!

Review: Incredible Dreams by Sandra Edwards

Incredible Dreams is the story of a modern-day ghost whisperer who travels through time to save the life of a WWII fighter pilot, and ends up jeopardizing her own existence.

Izzy Miller prefers to call herself a spiritual therapist because she thinks it makes her sound more professional than plain old ghost-whisperer. She expects her latest project to be quick and easy because exorcising military personnel is pretty routine.

But there's nothing easy or routine about Captain Jack Baker—he's a rather forgetful spirit and somewhat mischievous. And even though he's intrigued by the US Government's latest attempt to remove him from the only place he can ever remember being... he has no intentions of going anywhere.

Plans to exorcise Jack are quickly sidelined when Izzy discovers a portal into the past inside her dreams and sets out to change his fate. Trouble is...when she gets back there, she can't remember anything but her name. She still sees ghosts, but is far less accepting of her gift. And, to make matters worse, a demonic force pretending to be the forgetful heroine's sister has her own plans—to steal Izzy's soul.

                                           My Review:

Izzy Miller is a ghost-whisperer who is asked by the air force to clean out a Hangar where Jack's spirit still hangs around, he is a WII pilot and has no intention to leave the place he likes it there.
He is intrigued with Izzy feeling she is different then all others send before/

Lizzy thinking it was a job fast done, is finding out it takes more then that, she knows that in her dreams she can find solutions m dreaming is an portal for Izzy to go back to the past.. On request of her mother who passed away  she is going to save jack it is somehow very important, Izzy goes to sleep one last time and "wakes" up in 1946 where it is Jack's time. She meets him and falls head over heals in love with him.

There is only one problem when Izzy goes time traveling  she lose her memory. She remembers she is a singer in a club so when Jack saves her and helps her out for a few days, she finds out her sister has been looking for her,  the "sister" Jeannie, is not what it seems to be, she is out to steal Izzy and Jack's soul and does everything to make sure they stay separated and out of touch so Izzy can not safe Jack. Question is who will win, Jeannie the bad one in the game or Izzy and Jack?

Find out for yourself, it is a  well written book and I love paranormal books, I believe in spirits and whisperers, well done Ms Edwards another good book on your list.

A Political Affair

A Political Affair isn’t Fifty Shades of Red, White, and Blue, but it is a love story with spice and political intrigue. Stephen McEvoy never expected to fill his father’s U.S. Senate seat at such a young age—or to fight to keep it. When clever Anne Norwood interns in his office, Stephen dismisses her as another pretty face—until her independent streak catches his attention. They’re both too smart to fall for one another, yet they do. During a tough election, their relationship is an impossible political gamble. Campaigns—like love—are either won or lost. A born Midwesterner, naturalized Texan, and transient resident of Washington, D.C., Mary now lives in Northern California
